How to tie off an elasticated bracelet using a square knot

Make sure you have enough spare thread at each end of the bracelet as the more you have the easier it will be.

Start by taking the right end of your elastic and passing it over the left end, then bring the left end over and under the right end; essentially, "right over left, left over right," and then pull both ends tight to secure the knot.

Remember to alternate the direction of the passes to avoid tying a knot that is less secure. I always add a third knot (it doesn’t matter which direction the thread passes over) and pull tight as this adds to the security of the knot.

Top tip:

Add a dob of glue such as superglue or nail varnish to the knot as this helps secure it.
